Rise and Rejoice!

Monday morning! Alarm goes off! I hit the snooze button. Nine minutes later...more noises startling me awake. At some point I gotta get up! I tell myself that nine more minutes of sleep is all I need to face the day. After several rounds of this ritual, I get out of the bed and head to face my day. Heading to the bathroom, I began giving myself the needed pep talk to get going. The challenge of forgetting the woes of the past day and guard against the pending worries of the coming day is a great feat at 7:30a. What's already happened? What's going to happen? What do I have control over and what's up in the air? What do I need to do today? What is the goal for the day? These are the thoughts that swirl around my head, all in the first twenty minutes of being slightly coherent! Is this routine familiar to anyone else but me?

While I'm all too familiar with this song and dance, I'm also familiar with the calming voice of The One who has all knowledge and is in control of the day, weeks, months, years and eternity! His whispers through the mounting chaos in my mind quell the fears and stressors, as I remember that this is the day that the Lord has made! Since He made the day, He knows what's in the day! Everything about the day is under His jurisdiction and creation. Knowing that He is God brings me good news! Firstly, knowing that He's God means I don't have to be. I don't have to try and control anything or anyone in this day. The role of the Master is already taken and I can take a backseat and ride! The other consoling information is that the Creator and Master of everything is on MY side and He is fighting for me! Therefore, with all of that knowledge (...and a little bit of coffee...), I can not only face the day, but I can rejoice!
